Gourmet Vegan Oat Milk Hot Chocolate (Rich, Creamy, Maple-Sweetened)

This gourmet oat milk hot chocolate is naturally dairy-free and ready in just 10 minutes. Made from scratch with cocoa powder, coconut milk, and maple syrup, it’s rich, creamy, and lightly spiced.
Ingredients
- 1/4 C cocoa powder
- 1 ½ C oat milk
- ½ C full-fat coconut milk
- 2-4 tbsp of maple syrup
- Dash of salt
- 2 cinnamon sticks (or cinnamon powder) (optional)
- Dash of ground cardamom (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium pot, add cocoa powder, oat milk, coconut milk, and a dash of salt.
- If you’d like a more dark chocolate flavored and less sweet hot chocolate, then add 2 tbsp of maple syrup. If you prefer more sweet, then add 3-4 tbsp of maple syrup.
- Turn the heat on medium and whisk to combine.
- Let it reduce a bit by simmering for ~5 min.
- Pour into mugs, add a cinnamon stick, and top with a dash of cardamom powder!
Tips
- For the creamiest results, I don’t recommend swapping out the full-fat coconut milk, since you need something dense to achieve a silky texture.
- Whisk the cocoa and liquid ingredients over medium heat to prevent lumps and ensure smoothness.
